Dunwoody Baseball

**Dunwoody Wildcat Middle School Baseball Program**

The Dunwoody Wildcat Middle School baseball program is available to all middle school students living in the Dunwoody High School district. This includes students who are currently attending private schools. Tryouts are January 7th & 8th from 12-2pm and January 9th & 10th from 7-9pm. Practices will begin shortly after tryouts. The season officially starts around February 12th and the league will run until the end of April. There will be two games a week, one weekday game, and one weekend game. There is potential for practice depending on field availability.

The middle school program is run by Coach Alan Pitt (DHS 2010 grad). He has been the Managing Director of the Middle School program since 2020. He is helped by 5 additional coaches, some of which are DHS alumni. The focus of the coaches is to teach the students the game of baseball and to develop the necessary skills for high school baseball.

The Dunwoody Senior Middle School Baseball league is one of the largest and most competitive in the nation. The league hosts over 50 total teams and over 20 Atlanta schools represented. This league is a great representation of the different talent and schools you will be competing against throughout High School.

6th graders will be grouped together on a team that will play in the D division. 7th & 8th graders will have the ability to tryout for the A & B teams. Below is a link to the league rules. Please note the bat rules, base path and mound length, and pitching rest requirements. Additionally, we monitor the MCLL website for pitch counts and ensure no player ever pitches when they should not. Please wait to purchase a bat until teams are announced, as the different teams have different bat rules.
